Hi,

the wiki page describing the new config.xml format is not there, yet. Don't
know who was planning to make it, but some explanations for the package
building are at
https://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/BuildOpkg
Please take care about the new distro/ subdirectories and add filters for
limiting the applicability of an OPD package to the distributions and
architectures on which it really works!

The config.xml script conversion is not perfect, as far as I remember one
might need to replace some strings after the conversion was done. Invoke with
a config.xml file as argument. The file will be replaced.

Using OPD requires that one has LOCAL oscar repositories on the master node,
i.e. doesn't use remot (.url type) repositories. This is because an OPD
triggers the copying of the packages to this local repository and the rebuild
of the checksums.

Theoretically one can use remote (online) repositories for add-on packages,
too, but this is currently not well integrated. It's more stuff for 5.1...

Regards,
Erich

Hi Jean,

Just few details about config.xml files:
- as you said the documentation is completely out-of-date,
- the DTD (or XML Schema) for config.xml files does _not_ exist (unfortunately). A bug was open for that but it seems it disappeared; i have no clue why, but i may missed something because it seems there is now a script to convert config.xml files for oscar<5 to files for oscar>=5 (but i do not know what does this script; Bernard, Erich, some info on that point?).

So i guess you just have to do what i do: read existing config.xml files, try to do something similar and test it to see if it works (i know i know it is not really a scientific approach :-p). It is something we have to fix, it should be nice to have at least a DTD to validate our XML files.

For oscar_packages.xml file, you have to have that at the root of your OPD repository, OPD will use it to get information about your OSCAR package. BTW, if you want to test your repository it is now possible to use the OPD CLI, i completed the code few months ago (feel free to contact me directly if you need more information about that). Currently the OSCAR package have to include all binary packages, it may be possible in the future to use yum or apt, but i really doubt it is possible to do that today.

As i said, feel free to contact me directly if needed (i currently do not have the time to read the mailing list every day), i use OPD almost every day so if you have problems i may be able to help you.

Hi,
For config.xml, documentation is not up to date, from where my question
was.
Anyway, getting some config.xml from existing packages, I can get around.

Now I have a few questions for oscar_packages.xml.
- Is OPD reponsible for this ?
- Have I to provide RPMS into the oscar package ? Or can I put them into
a yum/urpmi/apt repository ?
- If so, how can I put this into oscar_packages.xml ?
- if not, I have an existing oscar_packages.xml and I will try to update
it...

Jean

The general devel docs are here:
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/DevelDocs

I think at least most of them are up to date to 5.0

and there is a conversion script here that might be useful

Hi,
I can not find any documentation about new structure of config.xml and
oscar_packages.xml files. Does it exist ? Where can I find it ?
