Michael,

Sorry, this is definitely off topic...

I was not clear, "external" does not mean "one on the external net",
fileserver is on the same private net with the cluster and on the same
switch. It's just not part of the OSCAR cluster. So, no need for gateway
setup. And I am testing with the master node only at the moment.

I've done this with my another take with OSCAR a couiple of months ago, on a
32-bit nodes cluster running Fedora Core 5. On this one, nodes can access
internet via NAT/Masquerading. It's damn easy to setup, just fire the text
version of network config and check proper boxes, then enable IP-forwarding
on master node. I don't know why RedHat/Fedora guys had this option hidden in
the usual GUI setup utility. Of course, you can still set it up manually if
you prefer...

Googled for ages still to no avail. That's a mistery. I can ping, ssh and even
smbclient to the fileserver from the master node but still no write access to
NFS mounts. Checked uids/guids matching and everything else I can think of.
Looks like another Fedora 7 bug, something to do with the old and trusty
portmap being replaced by rpcbind (which is a NetBSD port I guess).
