No, that's not true -- multiple Python versions can co-exist on the same server, they install in different locations. All you need is Python 2.4 SRPM, rebuild and install it. BTW, why do you still need Python 2.4 on RHEL4? Is it because of opkgc? I thought we have already fixed that issue.
