Assuming your clustrer runs on its own switch, you should only need a
firewall on your connection to the internet.  If you have two network
cards on your head node you can set up a firewall on the one that goes
out to the internet (this is what I do), but this can be tricky if you
aren't very comfortable with firewalls.

You can also set up a junk machine with a firewall/gateway product
installed on it like http://www.smoothwall.org/ between your cluster
and  the internet.  This is fairly easy, and I prefer this option when
it is sensible.

The software itself should give you some instructions on how to
install it on your cluster.  OSCAR has some tools which make this
easier, but will not automatically install most packages for you.

I would install the software on one of the compute nodes, figure out
dependencies etc, and then do a "chroot
/var/lib/systemimager/images/oscarimages" and install the
software/dependencies again.  Then you can just redeploy the cluster.

You can also use cexec and cpush to help do the installation on all
the machines at the same time.

Whichever seems easier.
