I suppose you could try to avoid the problem by not installing openmpi in a
fresh install.
Assuming you don't need it and there aren't any other problems.

There is another use who has seen this error, not sure what the problem is
in either case.

I don't know if this is still the case, but odd things used to happen if you
didn't have a fully qualified domain name (it doesn't have to be a
registered one).  I frequently do something like sles10oscar.oscar.net or
sles10oscar.localdomain.  Yum also mentions not finding a hostname it likes
quite a few times.

Some other misc errors I see:

Then it seems to find the domain name for the client nodes later on, so I am
not sure about that either.

Anyway, just some thoughts.
