I applied your patch but have currently some trouble with sourceforge
and cannot commit it. I also found your debianization patch and it is actually
pretty huge. Need to have a look whether this is the proper way to add debian
support. When looking at "normal" debian packages, they come with a normal
tarball and a diff that adds the debian make mess (sorry, I could become a
fan of RPMs when I compare the simple .spec with the load of additional things
needed to build a simple .deb) and things are nicely separated, such that the
development tree doesn't need to be spoiled with all those files. Anyway, there
might be many ways to do this and we should find the proper one.

Will get back to you on this, but will be out of reach (vacation) for the next
week.
