I'd like to work on fedora-18, unfortunately, the installer is still buggy and
fail to start on PXE environment (freeze when starting X11).
I'll have to seetup a VM.
But in the end, It's not that bad. I know that RHEL are somewhat based on old
fedora, and I think that RHEL7 will not be based on latest fedora. If I'm
correct, RHEL6 is based on fedora-12, so working on fedora-17 may be positive
tfor upcomming rhel7...Who knows. My vision is that nere is not major technology
gap/change/step between fedora-17 and fedora-18. Please correct me if I'm
wrong, I'm new to fedora world. The only issue I imagine for the moment will be
ganglia whic is 3.1.7 in fedora-17 (same as OSCAR) and maybe greater in
fedora-18 which may (not sure) lead to issues.(the fix I've make to
opkg-ganglia should handle the different locations for ganglia, but it may not
be sufficient).

Once centos-6 is fully ok, my aim is to work on fedora >=17 to port oscar to:
systemd (easy and not mandatory as initrd scripts are compatible, it's only
initd scripts to move to xml)
oscarconfigurator update with: grub2 support, systemd, NetworkManager, ...

For the moment, I concentrate on systemimager, it's a little bit more
complicated than I expected, because the makefiles didn't force the
dependancies and thus, it trigers issues, but I hope to fix this once for all
in the upcomming few days.

So for the moment: my priorities are:
- systemimager fully working on centos-6
- oscar_wizard able to reach step 8 without errors
- look at the build system to check what's missing compared to my repository
which contains som rpms that were build outside the oscar build system in order
to have them ASAP and have a viable repository ASAP.
(and when I'm not at work, port to fedora using my company new awesome dell
latitude E6530 core i7 fullHD SSD laptop :) )

Best regards,

Olivier.

Objet : Re: [Oscar-devel] RE : pbs_python in the Jobmonarch package

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for doing this.

Yes, fedora 17 repository is synched now.
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/repos/unstable/fc-17-x86_64/
The downloads/ website would be synched soon.

BTW, why don't we work on fedora 18 rather than fedora 17? Fedora 18 is already
out since Jan, 2013. ;-)
I just setup a fedora 18 x86_64 machine in my lab. I will use it as the
oscar-packager host for fedora 18.

Hi DongInn,

There are a few rpms that are not yet into OSCAR build system. I built them by
hand to quickly have a oscar repo we can work on. All such src.rpm are in the
download tree. My TODO list includes a line about integrating all those missing
build into OSCAR, but I had no time up to now to fix things.

I'm currently working on systemimager. I've successfully built systemimager for
fedora17 with latest udev and recent kernel, and I'm about to succeed on
centos-6.

DongInn, feel free to add this build to OSCAR.
My aim was the following:
try to build oscar with oscar-packager:
Then look at how many packages are missing compared to the centos-6 repo wich
is almost complete (except broken packages like mpich, lam and sge), and for
each missing package, look where it is missing.

Hopefully, the current situation is not that bad as I think that ALL material
needed to build oscar is in the oscar repo or in the download area. (was not
the cas in the past where some binary packages were taken from rpmforge
directly).

Thanks a lot for your help DongInn.

PS: Could you sync http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/repos/unstable/ from
http://olivier.lahaye1.free.fr/OSCAR/repos/unstable/ it now includes the
fc-17-x86_64 wich is not that far to be functionnal.

Objet : [Oscar-devel] pbs_python in the Jobmonarch package

Hi,

Does anyone know what pbs_python in the Jobmonarch package is?

I think Jobmonarch fails to build its rpm package because of this missing
pbs_python building configuration (e.g., pbs_python.cfg).

Anyone know about this? Olivier?
