The motherboard is an Intel E7500 server chipset with dual 100/1000 ethernet NICs on board. The CPUs are Pentium 4, 2.2 GHz.
I've tried several different configurations since I sent my original e-mail. One change I made was to switch the masters network connections so that everything internal was on the eth0. In doing so I verified that the slave node was booting from the master but was then getting confused when trying to find the file local.cfg. It was as though the image that it loaded did not recognize that it had already been assigned an IP.

Jenny, What are the hardware specs for the machines (proc type, and network card type specifically)? On Fri, Jan 03, 2003 at 01:55:59PM -0800, Jenny Aquilino wrote:Hi all, I am trying to setup OSCAR on a 7 node linux cluster and I've run into a problem. I am at the stage where you network boot your nodes so they will load the oscar image. I am using PXE and it looks like the nodes are able to get their IP address and load the image but then dhclient runs and I get the message: cat: /floppy/local.cfg: No such file or direcotry It then tries serveral DHCPDISCOVERs... DHPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 5 but returns with "No DHCPOFFERS received" I have verified that the dhcp server is running on my master node so I'm kind of at a loss. One other strange thing is that when dhclient runs the ethernet address it is broadcasting is off by 1 (ie. the last octet is 94 instead of 95). Does anyone have any ideas?
