There are many variants of pvm-based povray programs, so specifics would
help.

We're running a couple of MPI/PVM povray visualizations over our OSCAR
cluster (good for visualizing speedups, btw.)

One particular mpi-povray package that we're using refused to run without
exporting rsh environmental variables to reflect ssh in all the shells.
If you're using the same or similar, try making sure that mpich and LAM
are using SSH for the rsh environment variables.
