The problem is likely that you have spurrious output upon remote logins to
each machine when ends up confusing rsync.
As root from the head node, do an "ssh oscarnode1" and see what the output
is. I'm guessing that there's some error or warning messages somewhere.
Since this is in the context of switching from one MPI implementation to
another, it might be a problem with switcher complaining about something.
Can you send that output to the list?
