The problem is that the kernel that PXE uses to remote boot the client
does not support your network card. I experienced the same thing. I had
to compile a new monolithic kernel with support for my network card and
replace the PXE kernel with my newly compiled kernel. Things then
worked. I could find virtually no information on how to accomplish this.
If you want I can send you my config file used to compile a 2.2.20
kernel (you would only have to change the network card info).
