Hi everyone,
I was going to experiment on a couple of machines to see what this Cluster Computing thing is all about but I don't think I have current enough systems. Being a K-12 school system, people do their best to help out with donating computers, but most of the computers just aren't up to the task (most are 486's). I have managed to come up with (1) 100Mhz Pentium and (1) 100 Mhz AMD-K5-PR100 (which I believe is a Pentium equivalent). I've installed RH 7.1 and OSCAR on a Compaq PIII 450 with 10 gigs of hard drive space. All goes well until after booting off the auto install diskette and files are being copied over to the client machine, then after several minutes the transfer stops. I've tried it several times and it usually stops at the same place and then reports an error . The last few lines read: var/lock/ var/log/ var/run/ var/spool var/spool/at/ Wrote 374236 bytes read 354446272 bytes 526830.75 bytes/sec Total size is 352843711 speedup is 0.99 Illegal instruction <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Your auto install has failed, etc, etc, etc The second machine has stopped with the last couple of lines reading usr/share/man/man6/banner.6.gz usr/share/man/man6/intro.6.gz But it usually stops a t the same place as the first machine. I've even reinstalled the server machine from scratch with the same results. Any suggestions? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Daniel Albaugh Network Administrator Shelby County Schools 160 S.
