I had a similar problem several days ago with the client nodes not being
able to get past the interactive startup message. I was able to resolve the
problem by copying the same exact kernel and related files being used by my
head node to:

/var/lib/systemimager/images/<imagename>/boot/ directory

if the names of the files being copied to that directory are different from
those already there, you will have to edit the systemconfig.conf file in:

/var/lib/systemimager/images/<imagename>/etc/systemconfig/
