I have made considerable progress (I think) with the install of Oscar 1.2.1. When I last wrote the install was failing during server_prep because of some architectual problems with LAM and libappconfig-perl. I deleted, for the time being, LAM from the install and replaced libappconfig-perl.1.52.1 with libappconfig-perl.1.52.2 (really no architecture). That fixed those problems. I did have a bit of trouble with the Mac address collection process, but I found a line like "deny requests from unknown clients". I commented that out and it, from what I could tell, worked fine.
I net booted (with a diskette) the clients and the client install went fine (at least I saw no problems and it said it was finished). Now - my problem is that the client nodes will not completely boot. They boot up to the point where is says "Welcome to Red Hat 7.1 Press I to enter Interactive Startup". Here it appears to be dead in the water. It does not go through the start up phase where it seems to startup services. One of the things that it is not doing is starting the network interfaces. Consequently, the ping_clients did not work. I tried to run the "Complete Cluster Setup" phase. It did not abort, but it report, at the end - "secure connection to ... refused". Anyone have any ideas about how to solve this? Don McLaughlin Don McLaughlin Director, Office of Academic Computing West Virginia University G-7 Evansdale Library P.O.
