I need to compile mpich with the Portland group compilers to get my code running. Could someone please explain what is required as far as updating the current version of mpich? For a standard MPICH 1.2.4 installation, there are instructions in the User and Installation manual on how to setup MPICH to work with multiple compilers. See, for example, http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich/docs/mpichman-chp4/node50.htm#Node50 .
I can't answer the OSCAR-specific questions, but there shouldn't be anything special; we use the Portland group compilers as part of our testing. You should not need to change any of the client installations, however. Finally, the official distribution of MPICH is from http://www.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich ; the download page provides access to gzipped tar files. We do not currently distribute SRPMs or RPMs (I'll leave the reasons for a separate mail).
