Steven, Thanks for the advice. I went back to pounding my head on the desk since I am stubborn. The perl errors were caused by a flawed rpmlist. One example would be kernel-headers vs. glibc-kernheaders.
I think I will be more successful with a more intelligent rpm list. I have never tried to weave my own Oscar client rpm list before. Dou you hve a sample one for RH7.3 or a pointer on how best to generate one? Is it sa simple as running 'rpm -q -a' on a running 7.3 box, filtering the versions from the output and merging the results with the contents of the client.rpmlist files from the packages in ~/oscar1.4b4/packages?
