I have setup a 15 node cluster using RH7.1 and oscar-1.2.1 attached via eth0
to a workstation acting as the server for the cluster. The workstation
itsself is attached, via eth1, to a network of boxes served via an NIS
server. All appears OK until step 5, test cluster setup, when the script
../oscar-1.2.1/testing/test_install falls over when I try to use an existing
NIS user name. Looking at the script I see that substiting 'ypcat passwd'
for '/etc/passwd' when asked for the User Account would work but later down
the script I see " updating password files across cluster... ". Is it
possible to operate the cluster from a networked user account without having
to let each node on the cluster have passwd, group and shadow information?
Any help or comments on using a cluster attached to a node in an already
networked envirnment would be much appreciated.
Regards, and thanks in advance,
Rob Hawkes
P.S. When I log on to the workstation I get the following error message
'cannot determine home directory of user ...' but I still have full access
to the users home directory on the NIS server.
