I see a bit of activity on my master node.  If you want to take a look at our ganglia logs,  see this link .  The mater node for me is called viper.

I think a fairly fast computer is fine to handle it but RAM is a must.  Mine is a Athlon 1300 with 512 MB RAM and it needs more ram to handle our 60 nodes.
