Hello, The OSCAR Team has decided to change the mailing lists to require list subscription in order to post. In the past we had felt that the advantage of open posting out weighed the "occasional" SPAM. :)
Well in light of user feedback and general disgust with the amount of SPAM being trafficked through the OSCAR mailing lists it seemed a change was due. The archives will continue to be publicly available for online browsing. The change will only effect message posting to the lists. Now, you will have to subscribe the mailing list before posting (otherwise a "post error" will be sent to the user telling them to subscribe first). An SC'03 tutorial that surveyed various cluster toolkits mentioned OSCAR's mailing lists were very responsive and considered them a key asset. Hopefully this policy change will make them even more effective. oscar on! --tjn PS These changes effect the oscar-users & oscar-devel mailing lists. _________________________________________________________________________ Thomas Naughton [EMAIL PROTECTED] Research Associate (865) 576-4184 ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
