As long as you aren't using PVFS or GM packages, then you're probably pretty safe to upgrade your kernels. I believe the nodes are set up with lilo as a boot loader, so you will need to remember to edit lilo.conf on the nodes and then run lilo on them before rebooting. Your server node might use grub or lilo, depending on what you selected at install time.

If you ever intend to add more nodes or rebuild any, you should also update the SIS image in the same way. (to do this, just install the kernel rpm(s) to the image by using the --root=IMAGE_PATH option on the rpm command line. After that, you will need to edit IMAGE_PATH/etc/systemconfig/systemconfig.conf (not sure on that exact filename) to reflect the new kernel you've installed.

As with any change like this, test the whole process on ONE node first, so you have a chance to see if there are problems caused by it!
Good luck-

Ciao Bruce! Come va?

I have reinstalled redhat9 and oscar.
I tested cluster with 1 node

During installation I have downloaded ganglia and maui

After the installation, the test cluster it has been completed with success

This message:

it is only provoked when I start manually ./test_cluster

Now I would want update my server redhat with new kernel and new rpm and
add new nodes.

as I make for update of the nodes?
And what software or application I must use for the benchmark?

We have the same setup here.

Which version of PBS are you running ?
what is the output of qstat -q ?
what is the output of `ps -aux | grep pbs` ?
It should look something like this :
root 1549 0.0 0.2 2256 1176 ? S Apr20 0:37
/usr/pbs/sbin/pbs_server
root 1563 0.0 0.1 1944 600 ? S Apr20 0:07
/usr/pbs/sbin/pbs_mom
root 1577 0.0 0.1 2056 952 ? S Apr20 0:06
/usr/pbs/sbin/pbs_sched

It seems that the port needed by PBS is used by either another version of
PBS or another service... PBS moms communicate on port 15002

seems the rest of the errors are consequences of the first...
