Hi:

I got a video card for the node, but this time it was installed sucessfully.

That means if your node have no video card, you can't install it by Oscar 3.0, really????

Hi:

It is very difficult to troubleshoot a cluster install if you do not
have video or any form of terminal re-direction (so you can see what is
going on with the console).

Chances are, the SIS boot kernel did not pick up the hardware for your
node, and therefore the install failed.

Would it be possible to get a video card for the other node so you can
see what is going on?

Cheers,

Bernard

Don't know how many nodes you need to deal with without video and since most computers have built-in/cheap video now... KVM's have become popular.

The old school way is to go 'headless' & install an RS-232 Serial Terminal Server, and redirect all the nodes console ports to the /dev/ttyS0 serial ports for each node & have them connected the Terminal Server which switches (8-40) serial ports to a master "dumb terminal". This could be an anything from a Dec VT-320 or Wyse Terminal to old pc/laptop running minicom/procomm terminal emulation. Most modern Serial Terminal Servers have an ethernet port for TCP/IP ssh remote access, though this should be carefully protected and firewalled for security concerns. Having access to a 'console' is very powerful, certain macros (CTRL-D, CTRL-ALT-DEL) may need to be disabled & review 'man securetty'. Terminal Server hardware often has built in ACL tools, but keeping the firmware up to date is warranted as different vendors have had vulnerabilities reported in the past. Do your homework & research the vendors history at any of the sercurity sites like... http://www.securityfocus.com/
