You also might check the website of your motherboard's manifacturer and see if they have any updates for the BIOS. I checked mine when I was having problems with my Gigabit cards and discovered that there was a bug fix for an odd problem that I had been having where you could not boot or halt a node without a keyboard plugged in.
This sounded like it could be a similar problem. Its a bit of a long shot though.
