Thomas, surprisingly it's not working your way, just checked.
Seems only "::" works now, and it doesn't have to be near the start.

Ok, so it appears that we're trying to put
":/opt/modules/default/man"
at the front of the MANPATH in (/opt/modules/modulefiles/oscar-modules/1.0.5)
but I don't really see how we can guarantee that, unless we can guarantee
that fire first...maybe that's Switcher magic?
It seems that if we just have "::" somewhere near the start, that would fix
things. Actually, if we just changed the above to
":/opt/modules/default/man:"
^^^
it would probably have the desired effect and produce a MANPATH that would
work regardless.

Sure, here it is:

Can you show the output of MANPATH as setup by OSCAR (without any manual
mods), e.g.,
echo $MANPATH

First, what is SF?
Second, actually I think the ":" is working, if I do it manually after
login like "export MANPATH :/some/man/path:/another/man/path", it works.
The problem I think is the ":" in
"/opt/modules/modulefiles/oscar-modules/1.0.5" that intend to be at the
very beginning of the MANPATH actually blocked by the
"/opt/lam-7.0.6/man" added by
"/opt/modules/modulefiles/lam/lam-oscar-7.0.6" with command
"prepend-path MANPATH /opt/lam-7.0.6/man"
So there is no ":" at the begining of the MANPATH after this. Stranger
thing is if I change the command to
"prepend-path MANPATH :/opt/lam-7.0.6/man" that I expect to work, but
actually is not working.
Only the "::" thing works, and I think it's better, since it will work no
matter where it sits in MANPATH.

Crud.
Can you file a bug on SF about this?
I might have to add some kind of test to the switcher package to figure
out which convention to use.
Thanks!

There is nothing about ":" or "::" in "man man" on my system, and
according to the comments in
"/opt/modules/modulefiles/oscar-modules/1.0.5", this is an undocumented
behavior of man, so guess it won't be in the manual :-)

Arf. I'm betting that this is a difference with versions of "man".
What does "man man" say about ":" and/or "::" on your system?

Hello,
Not sure if this a problem with MANPATH in oscar 4 on RH-EL-AS-3 or
just me.
After installation, the MANPATH only contains man pages from oscar,
the default system man pages all gone, can't even 'man ls', after
some checking, seems the ":" trick in line 40 in file
"/opt/modules/modulefiles/oscar-modules/1.0.5" not working, but after
I put an extra ":" in (so there is "::" now), it works fine.
Just see if anyone else has this problem, is so, maybe this could
help.
