Try this:
 
1) stop gmetad and gmond on headnode
2) use cexec to stop gmond on all the compute nodes
3) start gmetad on headnode
4) start gmond on headnode
5) start gmond on compute nodes
 
is it better?
 
Also, can you be more precise by what you mean by 'request simply freezes'?

I have some problem with ganglia since i added 2 nodes. Seems that request simply freezes and i got not any ansver by gmetad. Also using gstat from commandline give me not any answer.
