The general problem is that the drive (usually a SATA drive) is not
recognized by the kernel systemimager uses.  The one in OSCAR 4.1 is now
quite old, especially if you are using new hardware.  I assume you have some
pressing reason to use RedHat 9 instead of FC6 or one of the other supported
distros for OSCAR 5.0?  There are reasonable odds that this problem would
not show up if you use OSCAR 5.

Even if it did OSCAR 5.0 has a "use your own Kernel" functionality which
lets you use the kernel from the head node (assuming it works correctly and
has about the same hardware as the compute nodes).

You could try rebuilding OSCAR 5.0 for RedHat 9.0 but it would be a fair bit
of work.

boot from its local drive,the problem comes there. it hangs there.
