You don't appear to have a DNS server installed. This from an article on
DNS (http://www.redhat.com/magazine/025nov06/features/dns/) which you might
want to look through and make sure you have this sort of thing. This would
be present in one of the server distros, but I would think that the sanity
check would have checked to see if they were there in any event.

Enterprise Linux) or Fedora RPMs. The following RPMs need to be installed on
the machine acting as the nameserver (use rpm -q to determine if these
packages are installed):

bind (includes DNS server, named)
