If it uses cciss, you can do something like the following: Edit this file so that systemimager tries to use the cciss module ---/var/lib/systemimager/scripts/pre-install/01all.load_sata_driver --- #!/bin/sh # echo echo "loading cciss driver" echo modprobe cciss
Then try booting the node. If you get a kernel pannic, write your own kernel module. You mentioned broadcom nics at one point I think so this might work. Paul may have a better suggestion for the modprobe.conf file devices and names. This is based on an example that worked for my dell nodes which use different drivers entirely... ---/var/lib/systemimager/overrides/oscarimage/etc/modprobe.conf --- alias eth0 bnx2 alias eth1 bnx2 alias scsi_hostadapter cciss alias usb-controller ehci-hcd As far as the "right answer", it is whatever gets you working as soon as possible. There is some traffic from Erich Focht on how to alter SIS so that your module gets detected automatically, but for an individual user this answer is much easier and works just as well as long as you know what modules need to be loaded.
