        Actually, is the chipset a i586, or is it just the wrong kernel
installed?  Fedora 6 or 7 installation had a bug where the install
process identified certain i686 CPUs as i586, and it was necessary to
manually update the kernel (i.e. install the correct RPM) after
installation.  It is possible that SuSE may have a similar problem.

        What sort of CPU do you have in the system, what hardware are you
running?
