I had copied the /etc/modprobe.conf into the image once before while
troubleshooting this issue. But I have never "forced the creation of the
initrd into the image". Is there anything involved with forcing the creation
of the initrd into the image other than the copy of modprobe.conf?

David,

This is the first time i hear about this problem with oscar-5.1 but based on
your return, it seems that the problem touches both OSCAR-5.1 and oscar-6.x.
Based on the return from users, it seems that this is because of a bad
interaction between OSCAR and SystemImager. If you browse the mailing list, you
will see suggestions from different persons, some seem to work but
unfortunately, nobody gave me enough details so i could integrate that at least
in OSCAR-6.x.

Typically the solution is to copy the /etc/modprobe.conf file from your head
node to the image and force the creation of the initrd into the image. I do not
know if that will fix your issue but i guess you can give it a try.

Finally, please, if you manage to resolve the problem, send me the details
about what you did, otherwise it is impossible to push the modification
upstream.

Regards,
