You said you tried an older version of OSCAR -- I have been using 5.1b2 with
all CentOS 5.x (5.0 - 5.4, just installing a 5.4 system last week with it) with
no trouble. I remember having some trouble with the 5.1 rc's, but the beta
solved it, and then that was as far as the 5.1 series got when development
started on the 6.0 line.

If you are considering reverting, I suggest 5.1b2 to see if you have better
luck. If you want to get the 6.0 line working, someone else will have to lend
a hand there.

Subject: [Oscar-users] Oscar 6 on FC9

Hi,

I have been using oscar 5.0 on FC5 for several years now with no problems whats
so ever. no with new hardware and the lack of any support for FC5 i decided to
switch towards CentOS and the latest oscar. Due to the repo issues i have now
turned towards FC9. I have tried the steps outlined and after creating the yum
repo i execute yum update and then yum install oscar. Below is the transcript:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[r...@head ~]# yum update

As you can see it just doesn't seem to install it, even though it finds the
files. Nothing has come up through google searches on how this

my repo file is as follows:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Fedora-OSCAR.repo
#
# If the mirrorlist= does not work for you, as a fall back you can try the
# remarked out baseurl= line instead.
#
#

[oscar]
name=fedora-$releasever - OSCAR
baseurl=http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/fc-9-x86_64
gpgcheck=0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can be resolved. Does anyone have any ideas?

A while ago for the heck of it I had tried installing oscar5.1rc1 on FC9 and
that was also a disaster as after i managed to get the installer GUI it wouldnt
let me modify packages or create a client image.

Thank you in advance

Ibad Kureshi
