thanks joe, about 15 minutes ago i managed to get it done using the remote distro, i overcame the packages problem by rolling back my php files by 1 generation. Thank you so much for your help.

What I do with my setups is make the directory /tftpboot/distro/centos-5-x86_64 and then copy all the RPMs from your CentOS DVD into that directory (so that directory has over 3300 RPMs in it). OSCAR will generate the file /tftpboot/distro/centos-5-x86_64.url (which will contain "file://tftpboot/distro/centos-5-x86_64) at some point during installation/setup, so don't worry about it. Sorry, I didn't realize that the instructions had changed, b/c I've done it so much I hadn't look at the repo URL in a while. So, basic instructions for the 5.1b2 branch with CentOS: 1) download repo tarballs (oscar-repo-common and oscar-repo-rhel-5) 2) unpack them in /tftpboot/oscar 3) install yume and createrepo (you may have to `rpm -ivh` yume, b/c i've had problems with it not installing via yum b/c of not being signed; in this case, you'd `yum install createrepo` then `rpm -ivh /tftpboot/oscar/.../yume*rpm 4) mkdir /tftpboot/distro/centos-5-x86_64/ and copy all the RPMs from your DVD into that directory 5) install oscar-base: `yume --repo /tftpboot/oscar/common-rpms install oscar-base` 6) make sure your /etc/hosts and /etc/ssh/sshd_config are as oscar requires (same for all versions of oscar) 7) you may need to edit line 74 of /opt/oscar/lib/OSCAR/PackageSmart.pm to add "centos" to the list of detected distros -- just add it to the end of the pipe separated list. 8) cd to /opt/oscar and run the install_cluster script See if this works better for you. --Joe _____ From: I.Kureshi U0850037 [mailto:u0850...@hud.ac.uk] Sent: Tue 2/9/2010 5:04 PM To: oscar-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Oscar-users] Oscar 6 on FC9 yes that is correct. and in step 4 i made /tftpboot/distro/centos-5-x86_64.url which i populated with the baseurl from my /etc/yum.repos.d/Centos-base.repo file everything worked then till step 3 "Install Server Packages" where it failed and gave the error below. the packages i need are torque maui mpich and ganglia which are mentioned below as unable to install. another thing i came across was that in Oscar 5 when you configure selected packages i would have to select mpich for environment switcher but in this installation it didnt give me that option. thanks for looking into this. regards ________________________________________ From: Greenseid, Joseph M (IS) [joseph.greens...@ngc.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 2010 8:18 PM To: oscar-users@lists.sourceforge.net; oscar-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Oscar-users] Oscar 6 on FC9 Hi Ibad, Just to verify how you got to the point you're at -- you followed steps 1-5 in the README (http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/php/beta/README) before running the install_cluster script (step 6)? --Joe ________________________________ From: I.Kureshi U0850037 [mailto:u0850...@hud.ac.uk] Sent: Tue 2/9/2010 3:08 PM To: oscar-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Oscar-users] Oscar 6 on FC9 thanks joe for your suggestion. I have been trying to install oscar 5.1b2 on CentOS 5.4. After getting the GUI it fails to install in Step 3 as it can not install certain php-comon rpms and other opkg-*-server rpms. I tried to manual install them but it was missing 1 dependancy per server file. I have it configured to use the centos mirror to get its repos but it fails. i have run this using OSCAR_VERBOSE=5 to show you where the problem happens. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ---> Package php-gd.x86_64 0:5.1.6-23.2.el5_3 set to be updated Checking deps for php-gd.x86_64 0-5.1.6-23.2.el5_3 -
