RHEL 6.x has the newer kernel, which gives us much better performance than the ancient kernel in RHEL 5.x. And AMD Magny-Cours & Bulldozer need newer kernel versions. In fact new Linux kernels are needed for the following OGS Grid Engine features: http://gridscheduler.sourceforge.net/projects/hwloc/GridEnginehwloc.html http://blogs.scalablelogic.com/2012/07/optimizing-grid-engine-for-amd.html > The good news is that I'm working hard to make it a reality. I have nothing against svn, and in fact we switched from cvs to svn when Oracle gave us the maintainership of the open source Grid Engine codebase. However, sonner or later you will find that someone will demand for a git tree. > Ongoing work: > > - sge => need a full rewrite to make use of gridengine package (work not > started yet) What needs to be done for SGE? IIRC, the original integration was done by a Google Summer of Code student. Also, in order for OSCAR to be useful for future workloads, we should have support for Cloud & Hadoop. In Grid Engine, we added the support recently: http://gridscheduler.sourceforge.net/howto/GridEngineHadoop.html http://gridscheduler.sourceforge.net/GridEngine/GridEngineCloud.html And earlier this month, we provisioned a 10,000-node cluster on Amazon EC2: http://blogs.scalablelogic.com/2012/11/running-10000-node-grid-engine-cluster.html Also, it may be useful to support Intel Phi: http://blogs.scalablelogic.com/2012/07/using-grid-engine-in-xeon-phi.html Rayson ================================================== Open Grid Scheduler - The Official Open Source Grid Engine http://gridscheduler.sourceforge.net/ Scalable Grid Engine http://www.scalablelogic.com/scalable-grid-engine-support > > Best regards. > > -- > Olivier LAHAYE > CEA DRT/LIST/DCSI/DIR > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > LogMeIn Central: Instant, anywhere, Remote PC access and management. > Stay in control, update software, and manage PCs from one command center > Diagnose problems and improve visibility into emerging IT issues > Automate, monitor and manage.
