Re-reading from here in case I'm doing something wrong:

http://www.adempiere.com/index.php/Community

 Citizen Rights
    * You have the right to vote in all elections
Citizen Obligations
    * Citizen's should use their vote

OK - I'm asking citizens to exercise your right to vote.

How to become a Citizen
    * A new citizen must agree to be a citizen, and get out of the anonymity giving his real name and contact information

Agree - there is still a loose-end on this phrase as it doesn't state if the new citizen must do that before or after being voted - as the line is new, I'm working on this proposal like if this requirement is for "after".

    * Prospective citizens should be proposed by a current Citizen

OK - the list was proposed by a current Citizen - me.

    * Two supporters who are active Citizens, should write a testimonial in the mailing list to support the application of the prospective citizen. For example, a support might say that the prospective citizen has made some contribution such as:
          o a new feature,
          o some important bug fixes,
o created or maintained some documentation
o carried out an administrative function - such as press officer

Well - in the list every person is explained what is the type of contribution they did: 5 edits on wiki pages, or 5 posts in forums, or 1 commit; all of that within THIS YEAR.
Is that enough testimonial?  I don't know if maybe you want to change the rule now to include curriculum vitae  :-D

These are only a small set of examples and we expect to expand and define this over time.
    * Once two supporters have made their testimonials, an election will be opened, and there will be a period of one week (7 days) from the date of opening of voting in which all Citizens may vote.

Effectively the election was opened, but the way of calling look more like a boycott than a call  :-)
"Please vote by answering with +1 and -1." on a list of 220 lines?
And people quickly started voting -1 without even reviewing the list  :-D  This is really funny.

    * Once the voting period has closed, someone will summarise the result of the vote and declare the election result. If the prospective citizen gains more than 50% of the vote (excluding =0's), then the person becomes an ADempiere citizen.

This statement is not clear, the citizen needs 50% of the votes (so somebody could be elected with 1 vote of each +1 and -1)?
Or 50% of the current citizens must vote positively?  In this case how do we manage abstention?

Anyways, I keep repeating - I'm just following the procedure established in Berlin, why don't you follow the same voting individually the proposed list?
What is the problem?  Why this long thread of arguments instead of just follow the procedures and vote individually?
Why now you're pretending to change the rules to say that a -1 vote on a list doesn't mean a -1 vote on each line?
So, now voting -1 on a list must be considered different than voting -1 for each member.  Where was agreed that?

Sorry, I'm tired of this ranting.

1 - Please consider my list open for individual voting as presented by an ACTIVE citizen, and vote it.
2 - Please consider my exclusion of the citizen list MEANWHILE at least 150 have been at least INVITED.
3 - Please don't invent a new rule mentioning that a person that suggested a list as active and then became inactive is not valid  :-)

Next e-mail is to renounce temporarily my citizenship.  FOLLOWING THE ESTABLISHED PROCEDURE.
I don't want to participate in any votation or election meanwhile we have invited enough representative persons.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

Hi Carlos,

maybe there is a missunderstanding:

you seem to assume that the people who voted -1 either don't want the group of citizens to grow fast or that they didn't understand the vote you proposed.

However, I think for me neither is the case. The reason I voted -1 is because I don't think your proposition is the best way to grow. (I think the way that Michael suggested today is a better approach.)

I understood that you didn't want to discuss your suggested aproach so I hoped if enough people answered with -1 we could open the path for a better approach fast.

Btw, I still appreciate the work you put into compiling the list. I also apreciate the Excel-File you created today. But I think you should have send it in accordance with Norbert, because he is charged with managing the votes until we elect someone else. In Berlin I supported you in the discussion about Libero for similar reasons.

Best regards

Tobi

Sorry Norbert, but the way you called for this election is against the nature of the process.
"Please vote by answering with +1 and -1"

A negative vote on the list would mean voting negatively for each member of the list, but it seems people didn't understood that, or you didn't explain well.

The votation process is intended to be done individually, I'm following the process, you are not.  Sorry, but we need to correct the mistake.

Carlos Ruiz

Norbert Wessel wroet:

Hi Carlos,

as inofficial election officer ;-) I want to state that there is already an ongoing election regarding this list.

There are already casted ballots and some are still pending.

Please do not start another election until this one has officially ended and been counted according to the rules.

Thanks for your understanding.

Regars,

Norbert

PS: I added Mike to the mailling list admins and he added Steven Sacket to the mailling list.

Hi citizens, following the procedure established for voting:

I'm providing a list of 220 persons - explaining the reason why I consider them an active contributor to Adempiere.
Redhuan seconded, Paul seconded.

Please vote on this list individually on the spreadsheet provided.
A general -1 vote will be considered as a vote negative for EACH person.

If you're too lazy (or don't have time) to review the contributions of the person being voted on each line - then please decide according to your heart or mood, or whatever mechanism you use to decide    :-)

The only additional thing I could add is to give you the curriculum vitae of each person, summarizing and qualifying the wiki edits and forum posts.  But I won't do that.
For me is enough to know this people ALREADY contributed to adempiere.

And YES, this is like "please shut up and vote".  I don't want to argue about this, just vote individually as you think EVERY line deserves to be a citizen or not.
I repeat I'm just following the established procedure.

Regards,

Carlos Ruiz

NOTE: Sending CC to the new citizen in case he's still not added to the citizen maillist

BTW, I think there must be more than one administrator for the maillist.
BTW, I think the list of  mail-list subscribers must be open for everybody to review.
