Tetapi satu hari saya terbaca bukunya secara free (open source!) dalam kedai Borders di The Curve dan ia mengubah hidup saya (secara mendapat peluang politik seperti dipanggil ke Brunei dan Padang untuk mempersembahkan projek saya). Pada akhir cerita ini saya akan kisahkan macamana selepas buku itu saya dapat tawaran ke Brunei hari itu juga. First the story, it goes something lebih kurang like this: The co-author of the book, Bill Zanker runs a skills class for adults where the audience can listen to big names in Hotel, Cooking, Fashion etc. One day he wants to get Donald Trump to speak on how to be successful in business. He call and call until he gets Donald private secretary and offered USD25,000 for one night session. The secretary say "I don't think Mr Trump will be interested" and puts down the phone. Bill calls again and say "Ok, how about 50 grand?" The secretary replied, "I have told you. Mr Trump is not interested in such things." Bill was very upset and think again. He is willing to go for no profit now to get Trump just because of the big name. Bill called again, "I am offering USD100 thousand. Madam I am making a lost!" She answered with a sigh, "Mr Zanker. I am afraid you are not listening to me. I said he is not interested. Thank you and have a nice day." Kali ini Bill memang naik begang. But he control his thoughts. He needs such big names. But how to get it?! After a few days of deep thinking, about what is more important - money or big brandname, Bill made this call to Trump's secretary, "Miss. Tell Mr Trump I am offering him one million dollars. Ma'm, that is all i make whole year. I am giving an unbelievable offer". The secretary tone changed, "I am sure Mr. Trump will like to hear about this. I will convey this to him." An hour later Donald Trump himself called up Bill, "Heh Bill, how you doing? I heard you got a great business there. Let me ask you something. How many are you inviting to my dinner talk?" Bill answered, "hmm.. usually about 500 pax, in your special circumstance i could probably get a real big hall and fit in 5 thousand pax". Trump replied, "No, no Bill. Not 5 thousand. I want ten thousand pax to listen to me. If you can't get that, forget it". Begang lagi Bill. Dah lah tawar sampai satu juta. Mintak pulak tarik sampai sepuluh ribu penonton. Sangka ramai sangat orang nak bayar dan sesak-sesak dengar bangang ini? But Bill doesn't want to give up after spending so much time on it. "Ok, Mr Trump. I will get you what you want." Trump quipped, "Great. Its nice doing business with you. I will get my lawyer to speak to you." During the actual event, to Bill's amazement, there was overflow till 15 thousand attenddees. Trump was very personal with the crowd and answer all the questions adding even stuff that people do not hear about. The session got big syndication from TV and lots of adveritisng money that makes a profit for Bill. At the end of it Trump asked Bill, "So Bill, what do you think? You like it? Was it good?" Bill answered, "Wow of course Mr Trump! Its more than full house". Trump, "How about we do it again. I think i like you to want to do business again. But let me ask you. Who do you think make this night a success?". Bill, "Hm.. er.. well.. i think it is both of us sir. Your charisma and my organisation. It is a partnership." Trump, "No! It has nothing to do with you. They are here because of my name. If you want to do this again. I want a raise. 2 million!" Bill memang begang lagi dengan Trump. But he thinks back. Trump is right. In fact because of this lesson, Bill's billionaire talks become world famous and he made the most money ever. Ok.. sekarang saya cerita pulak macamana kisah ini untungkan saya serta-merta pulak. Saya teringat gerakan Halal yang dipelupur oleh seorang kawan tempatan Dr. Zahimi dengan Dr Abdul Hamid Evans dari England. Merekalah yang menjadikan Halal sebagai satu konsep niaga yang besar dan meletup seluruh dunia tetapi menerusi Malaysia sehingga terujudnya HDC atau Halal Development Corporation. (Mereka telah keluarkan diri sebelum HDC tertubuh) At first Hamid Evans gave the idea with a Halal Journal to talk about Halal issues. Before this everyone think that Halal is just sembelih ayam punya hal and gantung itu sijil Halal dari pejabat agama. But Dr Evans change that concept when he propose that Malaysia holds an International Conference on Halal. He really thinks big and in the end the whole world opens its eyes including Nestle and countries like Australia, Brunei, Bangladesh and Canada invites him and Dr. Zahimi as international consultants on Halal. So after reading this story i teringat 2 kawan lama ini and i called up Zahimi because Evans has moved to Spain that time. I pun buka fon terus bercakap dengannya, "Zahimi, saya terbaca buku Donald Trump ini dan terfikir awak berdua. Memang contoh ada kat lu orang. You all think big and kick ass. Even though kena hijack HDC pun you all successful because of that." Zahimi pun berterima kasih kerana komen sedemkian. Beberapa jam kemudian dia telefon saya balik. "Redhuan, we have a Halal Conference soon in Brunei. I have put your name as the speaker of Halal Software. You are flying business class there!" Itulah kisah saya pertama kali dalam hidup tahun lepas menerbang busines class dalam hidup. Salam Aidil Fitri al-Mubarak. Saya tak mana-mana kerana bertafakur lama sikit tahun ini.
