As a fulltime php developer and a python hobbyist, i prefer python, as swee meng mentioned, python is not just for web development, and for me, i like python because i can plug anything to my python project... and transforming/converting into whether to websites or tools
php is slow without good caching, and for the common used php 5.2.9< is boring, php 5.3 is more fun but not much of people adapting it(not as much fun as python)... the pro of php is that anyone can pick it up fast... forgot ruby???
