And people won't mind learning, using and adapting proprietary softwares because they can get them for free too, via pirates, For a very good example, students are taught using proprietary softwares and they are required to finish they homeworks/assignments using the proprietary softwares, and you know what most of the proprietary softwares are!!! Microsoft Office, Adobe Software Suites, are they free and cheap? when even I cannot afford them!!! What are we educating? Pirates!!! When people cannot afford or doesn't want to pay, they steal!!! And stealing softwares, musics and movies are okay even to us. If you bought original softwares/games, I'm sure people around you will comment/scold/whatever that you're gila/crazy/nuts/rich/stupid. As long as people can get them for free, they'll take them same as Free and Open Source!!! Just ask anyone around us, how many of them can differentiate Proprietary Pay Software, Freeware and FOSS? Pathetically, most answers you'll get are 'Who cares?', 'They are all the same what', 'Free?!'
I think if we need to push FOSS to the next level, we need to eliminate such misconception, via our educational system ;) Like Richard Stallman said, when people are taught to use these proprietary softwares, they only know and need and must use them, and when they cannot afford, they'll rob and steal, like drug addicts, and our educators are the drug feeders. And I still despise VB Sorry, I didn't read all the previous posts. I just say whatever I wanted to say. Regards, CL Chow "Please do not send me Microsoft Office/Apple iWork documents.
