@ghodnode Thanks for your insightful opinion. I agree 'coding' is more an art than a science and that passion counts, a lot. But on the point "We don't ask why schools are turning out such poor quality ...(IT personel)" it is very relevant in our context. In more open market driven economies, its the market's supply/demand curves that determines the types of professions and numbers of practising professionals. But Malaysia is hardly a true 'market' driven economy, and IT (and MSC, CyberJaya, etc..) is an 'Industrial Policy' - call it pumping in public funds (tax payers money) to achieve a national agenda of building an IT industry. And in this case, we are questioning how well that money is spent, and hence educational instituitions are answerable, if anything consider it an ROI (Return on Investment) of my money as a tax-payer. I believe Edu can do more than just nurture, it can guide and inspire (and perhaps lead to developing passion ?), especially with passionate people helping from "outside" the ivory tower.
