ahhh... got it! *facepalm*
now i just feel stupid. but my mini2440's working!! yaay!

speaking of other stupid things i need to be clear about - From this
baremetal setup: i want to write "hello world" on the screen (without
Qt).

where do i put the source and how can i execute it after the
filesystem has loaded.

i tested out the stuff on the quickstart, the leds and stuff, never
thought i'd be so happy to see leds blinking!!! awesome! are there any
more examples of the sort out there?
