Juergen, Thanks for the reply. Any idea when the next release of Generic BSP 
will be worked on?  Is is currently in the works?   I know you can't say 
specifically when it will be available, just any guidance you can offer at this

If a root.jffs2 will exist depends on the platform settings (e.g. "ptxdist 
platformconfig"). And for the QEMU based platforms there is no need for this 
kind of image, as both QEMU platforms are emulating hard disks and no flash 
memory. So, this type of image is just disabled. But you can simply enable 
it.

Depends on the host distribution you are using.

QEMU is known as error prone. The next release of this BSP will build the QEMU 
by itself. This will make it easier for the user to make use of it.
