can i enjoy the summer with friends waiting for an someday open source fdt?
or should i spend my spare time writing functionality for asdt that is
already written in fdt?

is there any possibility that u commit some things to asdt in future?
why dont u use a duel license (like mysql or php)?
that way u can both open the source and sell some versions (with support)
