Yes I agree with that. That's an answer to an often expressed need. I wasn't
meaning bad by saying that.

Of course but if you can't run AS2 and AS3 at the same time that can cause
problems (i.e your designer can't put gotoAndStop in his clips if you're
using AS3). I'm very happy with MM realising that the AS1+2 VM bytecode was
not efficient enough to run fast and is breaking everything to build a new -
hopefully better - technology. But the interactions between different
versions is the most difficult point.

I understand that too.
But it will require you to rewrite a lot of your code (new API , new
language) and also to use a new "version" of the player (8.5) which might
not spread as fast as 8.0 since IMHO there is less audience for Flex2
contents than for Flash8 contents. My question was : if you need to do again
a lot of things, why not do again theses things using opensource tools and
players ? (supposing they're available).
