i planned to start developing DENG2 end of this year. this would have
been no problem, i can start developing with macromedias tools today,
and later, when MTASC for AS3 would have been available, switch, as we
did with DENG1 (first Flash MX, then Kinetic Fusion).

now i have to wait until MTASC for [xxx] becomes available *and*
becomes mature enough for it's bytecode to run seamlessly on the 8.5
player. i can't forsee when this will be the case. in any case, i have
to wait, because i won't rewrite DENG a third time. the problem is
that i don't know how much longer i can wait, because then i may focus
on something else i spend my free time on.

i also can't rely on the MMC alone, because my contributors (who are
not "flashers") are never going to buy it. i need an open source
compiler. i can't tell my contributors to buy a compiler to compile
code they gracefully contribute, and DENG contributors are hard enough
to find.

unless i find some angel investment, or unless macromedia releases
their compiler for free (unlikely), there is not much of a chance i
start porting DENG using macromedia tools alone (this would probably
become a one-man-show then, as in the flash developer world DENG is of
not much interest). i lost a lot of money developing DENG1 already (2
years fulltime), and this definately won't happen again.

summarizing, there is a small chance i'm going to do it, but only a
very small one, depending on what happens in the future, which i'm
unable to forsee at this point..
cheers,
claus.
