Well I dont think I was being pedantic but the way it read to me was that using the language I could today (or tomorrow) be able to access for example the new event system that is built into the player.
In reality whilst I can do this using the mx compiler today it will be at the very least several months after the new player is released before the new language would possibly be able to do that as it would depend for start on MM publishing the new bytecode format and when will that happen, six months after the release, who knows, or is the intention to reverse engineer the whole thing to figure out the bytecode.. is that really that "easy". Sorry but this is an important issue and I feel it dose of reality. The new compiler and syntax will (most likely) allow you to take advantage of the new virtual machine in the 8.5 player and its associated features and benefits. hows that? martin Robert Edgar wrote: > Nicolas, > I am aware of that. > > But you were asked: > >>>Will the new compiler/syntax allow a developer to take advantage of >>>the > > new features in the flash 8.5 player? > > You replied: > >>>Short answer : Yes. > > > AFAIK there are no new features in the standard VM in 8.5 for you to > be able to access, so the answer should be no, agreed? > > Rob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > On Behalf Of Nicolas Cannasse > Sent: Saturday, October 22, 2005 12:41 AM > To: Open Source Flash Mailing List > Subject: Re: [osflash] MTASC Future > > > >>I am confused, >>I can already use MTASC to create swf that run in VM under 8.5 without >>anything more... >> >>What "new features of the 8.5 player" are being referred to here?
