Thanks for your reply -- good to know there will be specs coming.

I believe it still makes sense, though -- the underlying principle
probably won't change too much and that way compiler development could
begin and later adjusted when the specs are released.

However, the question of legality still remains. I'm in the EU, which
hasn't got the DMCA but unfortunately it hasn't the most liberal laws
concerning this, either. So I'd be very interested in hearing opinions
-- I guess you can't provide me with a definite answer for various
reasons, Mike :)

I certainly wouldn't want to pi^H^H enrage Macromedia, my worries are
that the current momentum the OS Flash community has could be lost if
it takes too long for a new compiler to emerge. But as I said,
illegally obtained specs are of no use to anybody, to the contrary.
