I have recently joined the "stream" of flash coders wanting to shift to Red5. The progress done here is mindboggling and as an Actionscript coder, I just can't wait to get my hands on the first commercial release of Red5 :)
Well, now on to some of my queries:
1. I am trying to create a flv file and stream it to server with the help of Red5. I am using the "Netstream.Publish" function for this. But whenever i am trying to do this i get a message "NetStream.Buffer.Empty". Also, the .flv file is not being created. The webcam(logitech) i am using is getting activated as is the microphone. So, my question is - does Red5 support live streaming of audio/video data from a webcam?
2. As a flash coder, one of my great expectations from FMS was that Macromedia will open up the Desktop Streaming functionality to us. However, it seems it wont happen that way. I might be wrong but is Macromedia scared that we will end up challenging Breeze if the Desktop Streaming functionality was included in FMS? Anyway, my main query is - will Red5 support Desktop Streaming functionality?
3. I have already started asking many webhosts about running Red5 on their servers once it is commercially released. However, the reputed hosts don't want to run a java server program on their servers. Does this community include people who are into hosting as well? I ask this because it will be very tough for us actionscript developers if hosts don't run this.
I hope my queries get answered soon. I am using all the flash coding with Red5 as the backend and it seems to be doing pretty well. I am not into bits and all that...it's beyond me...however, as a Flash coder I think it seems to be handling things pretty well :)

Prabal.
