well, the main problem I got with Flash IDE's video export function is that it only exports "flat" animations (for example if you have a sprite of a man that walks and you move the man from left to right, on the video, the man will move from left to right but without walking ... ) : the movements (interpolations) seem only "exportable" when in the _root movieclip and any movement in any submovie wouldn't work (as far as I know ?) then it's true that scripted animations, even in the _root MC won't work neither when importing, even a simple "gotoAndPlay"... then I guess the "recording while executing" solution should be the better, in my opinion. adding this possibility to some potential OS flash player would be a really useful feature, both for linear animations and for video synthesis or generative artworks, in example. then video+audio should be supported too. some (commercial) software I tried were able to do that. they simply seemed to record the output (video+sound) while playing, the speed and quality was quite nice, but I don't have any idea of how it was done ...
