"RIA" can mean "Rich Internet Applications", with the original 
definition summarized here:

But these days "RIA" can also mean "'Rich' Internet Applications", where 
normal browser JavaScript can pull in new text without dumping the old 
HTML/JS/CSS... the meaning of the term can change with the audience.
