Still trying to resolve this… the
patch utility quits part-way through patching the mx classes with this same “File
Exists” error every time I try it, and always on the same file
(mx\remoting\Connection.as). I’ve tried moving Connection
temporarily out of the folder and running patch again (after re-copying the
original classes of course). Patch utility gives me an error that a file can’t
be found, allows me to skip, but then quits with the same File Exists error on
the very next file. Is this a problem with the patches/diffs?
I rather thought that the fact that the file exists is kind of the point…
I can’t very well patch files that *don’t*
exist…
From: Chuck Hoffman I’m attempting to apply the patch
using the patch utility…. Some point about I’m guessing halfway
through the mx patch, I start getting this error: C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin\patch.exe:
**** Can’t rename file C:\DOCUME~1\CHUCK~1.HOF\LOCALS~1\Temp\poa03956 to
mx/remoting/Connection.as : File exists

project to successfully compile with Flashout/MTASC – for now I'm just
working around it by using Eclipse as an editor and compiling from .fla in
Flash 8. My
first issue has been with using outside classes/components. We have several
things that we use on various projects -- some developed here, others
elsewhere. When I was doing everything in Flash 8 and/or Flash 8 plus a
text editor, I usually had components that were brought in as a .mxp via
Extension Manager. I don't want to have to physically copy all the
source/.swf/etc for every class/component into every individual project.
What's the proper or best way to handle this in a FAMES setup? The
second issue I have is a compilation error in one of Macromedia's own core classes: C:\Documents and Settings\chuck.hoffman\Local
Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash
8\en\Configuration\Classes/mx/core/ScrollView.as:174: characters 1-42 : type
error Object should be String What
should I do about this?
