And therefore coming back to the original question there is no significant performance difference between php and java (or haxe): in typical systems the SQL DB will be the bottleneck, especially if you need to write to it (if it is read-only you can more easily replicate it, or cache results). If I was João in the same position I'd not change anything: never try a new technology on a fixed-price or fixed-deadline project. Save evaluating new stuff for a spare-time hobby project or a salaried position.
