Some of us are already spending our time producing open source software. The time spent on this is far more valuable than any monetary contribution (to the contributor and to the community).
It is important for people who are merely consumers of the software to help out with bug reports, community building, donations, etc. but I think it's a bit much to guilt developers into spending money on infrastructure.
